You’ll never miss this in your Fitbit FAQs. Syncing your Fitbit is necessary for you to transfer and view collected data in your smartphone, iPad or tablet, or even Mac or PC. Post-syncing, you will view and track your progress in your dashboard. The dashboard shows how you slept over a period of time and your tracked activities. You may also set goals, log food and water consumption, challenge friends, etc., in your dashboard.

Pairing a device

To sync your Fitbit, you just pair it with your device first. To do this, you must do the following:

  1. Download and Install the Fitbit App 
    1. From App Store (for iPhone/iPad devices)
    2. On Google Play Store (for Android devices); and,
    3. From Microsoft Store (for Windows 10 devices – phones, tablets, and computers)
  2. Open the Fitbit app and tap Join Fitbit.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to create a Fitbit account.
  4. Pair your Fitbit device to your phone or tablet.

Syncing data from your Fitbit to your device

Once you’ve paired your device to your Fitbit app, data syncs automatically upon opening the Fitbit app on your mobile or tablet. For manual syncing, you may also use the Sync Now option in your Fitbit app. To do this:

  1. Tap the Today tab with the Fitbit logo
  2. Select your Profile Picture.
  3. Then tap on your Device Image.
  4. Tap Sync Now.

When Fitbit is synced with your mobile, iPad, or tablet, the time automatically sets accordingly. However, if in case you travelled and changed time zones, and your Fitbit did not change its time despite syncing, you may manually change the time of your Fitbit.

How to change time on Fitbit for iPhones and iPads

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab.
  2. Tap on your Profile Picture.
  3. Then, select Advanced Settings.
  4. Under Time Zone, turn off the Set Automatically option.
  5. Tap Time Zone.
  6. Then, select the correct time zone.
  7. Lastly, Sync your Fitbit device.

How to set time on Fitbit for Android phones

  1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab.
  2. Tap on your Profile Picture.
  3. Then, select Advanced Settings.
  4. Turn off the Automatic time zone option.
  5. Tap Select time zone; and,
  6. Select the correct time zone.
  7. Sync your Fitbit device.

How to change time on Fitbit for Windows 10 devices

  1. Go to the Fitbit app dashboard.
  2. Tap the account icon; and,
  3. Select Advanced Settings.
  4. Tap Time Zone.
  5. Turn off the Auto option;
  6. Then, select the correct time zone.
  7. Sync your Fitbit device.

How to set time on Fitbit through the fitbit.com dashboard

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. Click the Gear icon.
  3. Go to Settings; and,
  4. Select Personal Info.
  5. Scroll to Advanced Settings.
  6. Find Timezone and choose your right time zone.
    *Note: Time zones offset by the half-hour are not supported.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Sync your Fitbit device.

Your Fitbit Versa or Versa Lite should work smoothly all the time. But in case your Fitbit won’t sync, show notifications, respond to taps or button press, or track data, you might need to restart them. Restarting, also known as a soft reset, turns your device off and on without deleting any data.

Using your Device’s Settings

When you are still able to tap, swipe, and press buttons in your Fitbit Versa, you might want to restart through your device’s Settings. Here’s how:

  1. From your Home Screen, swipe left and tap on Settings.
  2. Scroll down until you see About, and tap.
  3. Tap on Shutdown.
  4. Select Yes when asked to confirm shutdown.
  5. Press and hold the Left button for a few seconds to turn your Fitbit back on.

Using your Device’s Buttons

Alternatively, you may restart your Fitbit Versa by pressing the two buttons on your device. You might need to use this when your device has gone unresponsive and won’t respond to taps. Likewise, this alternative way won’t delete any of your data. Here’s how:

  1. Press and hold the left and bottom buttons (roughly 10 seconds) until the Fitbit logo appears on the screen. 
  2. When the Fitbit logo appears, let go of the buttons.
  3. Once complete, your device should vibrate (to signal a successful reboot) and you should be prompted to open the Fitbit app and set up your device.

If you want to treat someone with a Fitbit hand-me-down, you may want to reset and erase all your data. Doing such would erase apps, previously stored data and information, credit or debit cards, and saved settings. Definitely another one of those Fitbit FAQs, here’s all you need to know:

Resetting Fitbit Ionic, Sense, Versa, Ace, Charge, and Inspire Series

To do a full factory reset:

  1. From Home Screen, swipe to Settings.
  2. Tap on About.
  3. Scroll and find Factory Reset (Ionic, Sense, and Versa Series) or Clear User Data (for Ace, Charge, and Inspire Series).
  4. Select Reset or Confirm when asked to confirm your decision to reset your device.

Resetting Fitbit Aria

The Fitbit Aria is an easy-to-use smart scale that shows your weight. It syncs to your Fitbit app and tracks your trend over time. Moreover, it shows your BMI. Simply a smart scale, the Fitbit Aria does not store data. But here’s how to erase anything in your Aria:

  1. For Aria, simply:
    1. Remove the batteries.
    2. Wait for about 10 seconds. 
    3. Reinsert batteries.
  2. For Aria 2:
    1. Remove the batteries.
    2. Press the small button above the battery slots.
    3. Press the button for about 10 seconds while reinserting the batteries. 
    4. Cover the battery compartment and press down until secured.

Resetting Fitbit Flyer

You may also want to reset your wireless fitness headphones. To reset your Flyer, you must do the following:

  1. Press Up Button
  2. Then, press Down Button
  3. Again, press  Up Button
  4. And, press Down Button
  5. Press Up Button
  6. Press Select Button

Your Fitbit Flyer has completed reset if the LED flashes white five times and the Flyer turns off afterward.
