Reebok Nano

The Reebok‌ ‌Nano‌ ‌‌shoe‌ ‌series‌ ‌was‌ ‌first created ‌in‌ ‌2011‌ ‌when‌ ‌Reebok‌ ‌signed‌ ‌a‌ ‌ten-year‌ ‌partnership‌ ‌deal‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌fitness‌ ‌giants‌ ‌”CrossFit‌ footwear‌ ‌&‌ ‌apparel”‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌its‌ ‌official‌ ‌product‌ ‌supplier.‌ ‌Continuously‌ ‌innovating‌ ‌the‌ Reebok ‌Nano‌, it already reached its Nano 9,‌ ‌forging‌ ‌new‌ ‌victories‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌sport‌ ‌of‌ ‌fitness.‌ ‌Instead‌ ‌of‌ ‌releasing‌ ‌another‌ ‌shoe‌ ‌series,‌ ‌Reebok‌ ‌concentrated‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ ‌Nano‌,‌ increasing‌ ‌its‌ ‌greatness‌ ‌yearly.‌

There are ten different Nano shoe generations, with each an improved version of its previous self. CrossFit had no go-to competing shoe for athletes before the Nano. However, Reebok made Nano shoes and expanded CrossFit dominance in the fitness world. Fans of the shoe pride in being part of the CrossFit community and see the shoe as a badge of honor.

The Reebok Nano is a beauty to behold. They were designed to support athletes who partake in high-impact movements, weightlifting, gymnastic, rope climbing, burpees, box jumps, and short-distance running. Before it launched, athletes mostly worked out in basketball shoes, running shoes, and casual shoes, which were inefficient.

The first edition of the Nano had a broad toe box that featured the U-Form technology. This U-form technology conforms the shoe to the wearer’s foot size more efficiently. Since the Nano shoes’ success, it is now interchangeable with CrossFit’s sport. Many athletes consider it as the leading shoe in the functional fitness market. We will be discussing the recent generations of the Reebok Nano, starting from the sixth generation to date.

Reebok Nano 6

Reebok Nano 6.0 is the sixth edition of the Nano shoes. It launched on the 1st of March 2016 as the successor of Nano 5.0, which had complaints from athletes about it being too hard on feet. Reebok listened and focused more on enhancing the comfort of the Nano shoe in this 6.0.

Reebok Nano 6 features a re-engineered anatomical design adding more cushioning, less flashiness, and more functionality to the shoe. The then-new stretch Kevlar® fabric and upper mesh provide extra durability and breathability to the shoe. The embossed Reebok CrossFit logo on the inner sole and the shoe’s rear adds aesthetic to it.

Comfort, response, and impact absorption of this Reebok Nano shoe increased thanks to the Tri-blend FoamFusion enhanced midsole. The outsole of the Reebok Nano 6 features RopePro+ alongside a sandpaper-textured Kevlar for natural stability and control on CrossFit specific activities like box jump, rope climbing, weightlifting, etc. Reebok Nano 6 also has a modeled heel counter to provide arch support to avoid shin splints and the standard 4 mm heel drop.

The Nano 7

Reebok Nano 7 came out in November 2016, the same year the 6.0 did. However, it was an absolute difference in design from the 6.0, with new technologies that the 6.0 didn’t have. It featured the then-new Nano Weave upper with two layers. The customary fabric layer helps with flexibility, and then the protective Weave layer that’s like a web protects against damage from CrossFit activities without sacrificing breathability. Reebok Nano 7 has a molded 360-degree TPU heel cup and an anatomical toe box for a natural feel and ankle mobility, keeping the feet steady when running.

The Reebok Nano 7 OrthoLite&trade sockliner adds more cushioning to the shoe, making it super comfortable. There’s the crystallized rubber outsole with a well-thought-out pattern that provides extra stability and traction on all-terrains. It has a little rubber on the lateral part of the shoe to help with rope climbing, but it’s very subtle.

Initially, the midsole of the Reebok Nano 7 is a little stiff and rigid at first, but they loosen up after some break-in. It still features the standard 4 mm heel drop for stability. The Nano 8

Reebok Nano 8 improved on all the shortcomings of the 7.0. It features a low-cut design for additional ankle movement. Also, Reebok updated the weave upper to the FlexWeave dynamic upper construction, which provides breathability, comfort, and targeted support to the foot. It has an easy lace-up closure for a convenient wearer experience.

Likewise, the OrthoLite&trade sockliner remained, but in the Reebok Nano 8, it is removable. Moreover, there’s a 360-degree TPU heel wrap that moves with the foot as one for stability. It’s also got a wide flexible toe box that accommodates and displays the toes naturally.

Thanks to the dual-density midsole, comfort and flexibility increased in this shoe. Reebok Nano 8 has the rope Pro carbon rubber that wraps the lateral side for added protection. And it has a crystallized rubber outsole for ultimate stability. This shoe is extremely lightweight but performs well in all CrossFit specific activities remarkably.

Reebok Nano 9

As you can guess from the name, the Reebok Nano 9 is the ninth generation of the Nano series, debuted in June 2019. Reebok did surveys with CrossFit athletes worldwide for directions and feedback in designing this edition of the shoe. Thus, the Reebok Nano 9 shoe came out with a massive evolution in comfort and overall fit.

Plus, it complements all types of outfits for any occasion.

Reebok Nano 9 features a redesigned lightweight FlexWeave upper from the 8.0. FlexWeave allows the wearer to have better foot movement with extra breathability. An additional layer of material is at the toe area, which will help protect the shoe from wear during any heel or toe dragging activities such as burpees or push-ups.

The Reebok Nano 9 midsole features six eyelets for lacing up, with a wide padded tongue re-engineered to ensure comfort and protection during any CrossFit activity. Also, the midsole has the addition of EVA foam cushioning, which alternates between compression and reaction, making the midsole super responsive. The 360-degree TPU heel wrap adds more stability to the foot.

The outsole splits in two with the then-new Reebok Metasplit grooves for extra comfort, reactivity, grip, and traction. Also, the heel construction of the Reebok Nano 9 improved from the previous versions, making it deliver additional support for gymming and all-day wear.
